A coaching session with Founder & President of SimonSays Entertainment, Ron Simons can be a general informational session where every question you ever had about “how to break into the world of producing independent features is answered.” The other option is a strategy session in which Ron walks the client through specific steps to getting a project production-ready or “sellable.”
Ron’s first two films went to Sundance, received numerous awards and received solid distribution deals. As a Sundance Producing fellow, his knowledge base is specifically tailored to the indie film world. Coupled with his business background, he has the scope of information necessary to coach up and coming producers, filmmakers, actors-turned-producers in what it takes to get your project noticed by potential investors, producers and developmental resources.
SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT
A coaching session with Producing Associate, April Yvette Thompson covers script development, dramaturgy or script doctoring. A script development session is ideal for the writer who has a script that is structurally ready to be submitted to the most competitive film labs in the country and is looking for ways to package the script. A dramaturgical session is useful, if you have a script with key story elements that need to be mapped out more clearly and needs more developmental opportunities. Script Doctoring is an alternative for a script that’s been through development, but the narrative lacks the clarity that would make it a “shootable” script. April also does basic script analysis, where she reads a script and gives you an evaluation of where the script is in its development and what might be the necessary next steps.
